CentOS5 in production?

Would you use CentOS5 in production for LAMP?

It really would depend on the production, your SLA's you need to meet and other factors.

CentOS's commerical support page isn't filled out, so where I come from, this would not be acceptable for production. In order to make it through our change management boar, commerical support must be available at a minimum of 8x5 on non-critcal and 24x7 on mission critical.

YMMV
I have been using CentOS 4.4 and pretty happy with it.  CentOS released not long ago and I have 1 server running it and quite happy with it too.  Personally I prefer 4.4 but it is always advisable to move to the newer version since older ones will slowly reach their end of life.
Hi,

I would say CentOS is an excellent distrobution for a production server. CentOS is just
Redhat Enterprise server but with a different name.

I have also seen CentOS in a lot of production environments.

Difference between CentOS and Redhat is that there is no dedicated support for your server
unlike Redhat

Was specifically asking about version 5, we use CentOS 4 a lot in production.
Hi,

CentOS version 5 is better that version 4 as there a new and improve features for managing
services and SELinux.

Have a read of the link below as the features in Redhat Enterprise 5 apply to CentOS 5

http://www.redhat.com/rhel/features/

Enhancements to SELinux was one of the reasons I was looking at 5.x

I was kind of weighing that in to see if it was worth jumping on a possible compatibility problem with 5.x

we have used centos 5 for our new file server. It also has built in virtualization. So far i have liked it and its running without any problems. We run quite a few services on it. I have got our LDAP-samba server, wiki, dns, dhcp, timesheet, apache. bugzilla and some other services running and so far no glitches.
What do you use for LDAP, Fedora Direcory Server or Open LDAP?
I have used openldap
