This is for MCTSC 6 - other sare similar
When you set up a connection with MSTSC, click on OPTIONS, on the Local Resources tab, elect to 'Bring sound to This Computer'

'Bring sound to This Computer'
It is on the right option
In xp i am not able to hear sound when i connect remotely.

In windows 2000 Server also i have the same problem.Even though i connect through Mstsc /console
in the mstsc dialog box click options to expand the list of options
on the local resources tab select appropriate option in the "remote computer sound" list.

audio can be brought to the mstsc client computer which is default, audio can be heard on remote computer speaker or you can stop the audio playback.
sorry I have written before seein your comments

the target computer should be running XP and above, if you are connecting to windows 2000, it may not behave correctly
