im using delphi 6 and mysql as database. My problem is regarding the DBGrid. It is connected to the DB, but I want to disable its auto-post feature. I want it to post (or cancel) only after clicking a button. I've added the ABORT command in the OnBeforePost event of my ADO table. It works. But problem is, back in the form with the dbgrid, i cannot move to the other records. Im stuck to the supposed to be new record. I can move within the row, but I cant go to the other rows. How do I solve this? Please help...

You might try a boolean variable like DoNotAbort and when you click your button to update or save, you set DoNotAbort := True. Then in your OnBeforePost do this:

if not DoNotPost
 Abort
DoNotAbort := False;

Thanks for your reply guys.

Johnjces: I've tried doing that already but still have the same problem. also, in your code, i think the DoNotAbort := False part will not be executed since it is already aborted before it reaches that part. I've tried  to make my variable equal to FALSE in a try...finally statement after clicking the button (for posting).

reallyethical: How do I load the fields in the grid? should I still use DBGRid or just the regular Grid? How can I post the fields (or rows) in the table? FYI, I'm using ADO tables and MySql DB.

thanks
