Windows Update Fails with Event ID 623 in Application Log

I'm trying to do a Windows Update, but the page continues to time out.  Error number 0x8024400E shows in the top right corner of the web page and the following error is logged in the Application log:

Event Type:      Error
Event Source:      ESENT
Event Category:      Transaction Manager
Event ID:      623
Date:            6/12/2007
Time:            11:42:20 AM
User:            N/A
Computer:      [computer name]
Description:
wuaueng.dll (2532) SUS20ClientDataStore: The version store for this instance (0) has reached its maximum size of 8Mb. It is likely that a long-running transaction is preventing cleanup of the version store and causing it to build up in size. Updates will be rejected until the long-running transaction has been completely committed or rolled back.
Possible long-running transaction:
      SessionId: 0x023D0320
      Session-context: 0x00000000
      Session-context ThreadId: 0x000009D4

That was it.  Seemed to be a corrupt wuweb.dll.  Once I deleted it and went back to the WU site, I had to re-install two ActiveX controls and everything was fine.

Thanks!
Glad it worked for you. :)
