HPLJ 2430n strange printing behavior with Access report

The printer is an HPLJ 2430n on a novell 6.5 sp6 network using ndps.
There is one strange problem with an access report.
There is one text box that sits behind a few other txt boxes on this report. These are all transparent so when there is nothing in them
the one that has the data in it will show up on the report.
This works on all printers except this one 2430n.
It will not print the txt box we need to show. I have moved around the other txt boxes and that is when i realized
that one of them is sitting on top of it and not allowing the txt tyo show.
Just a strange problem that I'm not sure if I am explaining it clearly enough. Please let me know if I'm not.
I have printed this same report on 3 other printers and it works as it should.
The print preview always shows what it should print.
I have upgraded the drivers, tried pcl5e and 6
anyone have a clue?

Given that the problem lies with the HPLJ 2430n printer and not with the other printers can I assume that this HPLJ 2430n printer is the only printer that is using a network (jet direct) network card connection?

If this is the case then the problem lies with the printer driver.
HP does not list Netware as a compatible network for this printer in the
specs.

In specification of HP LJ 2420/2430 with "n" (jetdirect inside) it is said
it works with NetWare 3.2, 4.2, 5.x, 6.x. However nowhere anything about
NDPS.

Checking their website it looks like it will work with NDPS and
Novell printer gateway.

Give HP support a cal regarding the problem

ASKER

All our printers use Jet direct cards
The problem is most definatly the printer driver. I have swapped the driver with another model HP printer
and that reports prints out correctly useing the 2430n. The driver was for a 1320 printer.

I dont understand your post. are u telling me it is supported or not?
A call to HP  is a last resort. Thats why i posted on EE.
Anyone else have an idea?

Have you tried uninstalling, then reinstalling the Printer?

I am going to call HP.
I installed the printer via tcp ip and same problem.

ZuZu: It is a bound Object Frame that is causing the problem. But it is set to transparent and it is working properly
because a print preview shows what it should.
Its only when you print that it doesnt come out.
I have to believe it a print driver prob.
pauls681,
Just a thought . . . Does the font that you are using have a substitution in the print driver?
If so, try changing the font in the Access report field to Ariel.
Its not the font. The Bound Object frame is infront of that text box.
I tried the ps driver for the 2430 and it worked...  but it causes problems
in another app.
Looks like im just going to modify the report so it prints out.
