Set Su/Root password in OS X Tiger
Set root/su password?
Hello,
I am trying to install the latest version of ruby on my Mac (OS X 10.4.9). The ./configure part of the install is not working for me, so I would try it as root. I cannot authenticate as such. I cannot even set the root password with "passwd root" or "passwd su". I can enter my passwd then the first iteration of the new root password, and after the second iteration ends-up in a "sorry".
Any ideas?

Thanks for the quick answer...

I tried "sudo passwd root" and that did it. The ./configure may be directory-related.
Thanks
