Microsoft Office Outlook had problems encrypting this message because the following recipients had missing or invalid certificates, or conflicting or unsupported encryption capabilities:

I am getting the below error.  I installed a digital cert from verisign, and when I attempt to send encrypted I get the below.  I have all the service packs installed for Outlook 2003.

Ah, so once I have their key encrypted email can be transmitted.  So simple in hindsight.  Thanks.

Hmmm.. Maybe I am doing something wrong.  I was sent a digital signature, however I still cannot send an ecrypted email.  I am getting the same error.

Any idea?
Open up their contact in outlook, then look for certs.  Is it empty?  Outlook is supposed to the cert in automaticlly.  In practice sometime you need to do it yourself.  If you view the cert from the signed message there is a button to copy to file.  A certificate export wizard pops up, the defaults should work, just make note of where you export the cert to.  Go back to the outlook contact, click on certs, then import the certificate.
Hmmmm. I got it imported and can send encrypted email to myself.  I also publised to the GAL, however I still cannot send encrypted to others on this exchange box.  Any idea?
I ran across this issue today and it was due to the fact that the Outlook Contacts were not added to the list of available address books.  This meant that Outlook was unable to lookup the certificate because it did not know of the Outlook's Contacts.

Right-click on Contacts, select properties.  On the Outlook Address Book tab, be sure that "Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book".  If the option is grayed out, you will need to add an Outlook Address Book to the directories. || Tools, Email Accounts, Add a new directory or address book.  Select additional Address Books, Next, Outlook Address Book.  Complete the remaining prompts and restart Outlook.  repeat the first steps above.
