Backup Exec stuck in Loading Media state, error 33152 in Windows Event Viewer

I'm using Backup Exec 9.1 on a Windows 2003 Server.  I have a HP DAT72x6 autoloader which I've just installed on the server.

Backup, cleaning and restore jobs won't run.  Unlock and inventory jobs run OK.  When trying to run the other jobs, Backup Exec sits in a "Loading Media" state.  In the Windows event log, I get a set of three messages every few minutes.  These are:

Message 1:

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the tape drive.  I've tried using OEM and Veritas drivers.  Any ideas people?  I'm happy to try reinstalling again, but would appreciate if someone could send me a list of what needs to be done exactly, since the last uninstall attempts I've made could have missed some crucial step.

The tape drive used to work fine when attached to another server.

Hmmm... I've shut down per the sequence above and now I can at least start the backup job.  It gets past Loading Media, and now it gets stuck at pre-processing (it's been sitting there for over 10 mins).  I've had this issue before, but at the time there were a bunch of Error 9s in the System log.  I could go and try the things here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/154690/en-us, but I'm not completely convinced that that is the problem.

Any new ideas people?

I tell a lie - it has moved onto Running now, and I'm getting Error 9s and the byte count is at zero after 15 mins.  Will give the job a while to run and let you know what happens.  Thanks people.
Here's what I have done in the past (with backup exec 9 & 10) when I've gottent this.
1) Stop and disable all of of the Backup Exec Services
2) Go the the Device Manager and remove the media changer and the backup drives.  Don't reboot yet.
3) Get into the Removable Storage manager and remove the library and drives.
4) Reboot
5) The reboot will cause the media changer and drives to be detected and installed.  Leave them as they are for now.
6) Open the Removable Storage Manager to verify that the library and drives are there.  It's likely that there'll be inventory jobs in the queue which you should wait to complete.
7) Disable the drives and library in the Removable Storage manager.
8) Change the drivers for the backup drives to the Backup Exec drivers.  Leave your controller and Media Changer drivers as they are.
9) Smile and have a nice day.
