Vista driver for NVIDIA GeForce 4 420 Go 32MB?
I did a fresh install of Vista on my Compaq Presario R3215CA. When I was reinstalling drivers and software I found out that Compaq does not support the model for a Vista upgrade. However, everything works fine, except my video card is not recognized/supported.
The card seemed to be supported in Longhorn Beta 1

I found this WinVista driver and installed it. My display adapter now shows up as "NVIDIA GEFORCE4 420 GO 32" but it is stopped due to "Code43"

I found a few message board postings on tweaking drivers but they were for Linux.
What are my options? Can I upgrade my video card? Can I tweak the driver? Do I have to switch back to WinXP?

There does not seem to be a Vista Driver available - or the driver included with windows is supposed to work - try reporting the problem on the nvidia web site http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

Netman: I hadn't come across your blog but that's exactly what I was looking for. I had come across similar postings for Linux. I will try it out and follow up.

Forgot to mention that 97.46 is not in the list. Should I go to the next one up which is 97.77 (INF and WHQL)?

Yes, I posted the laptopvideo2go link - that where you'll find pretty much every build number in existence.
Let me know how you make out.

It worked! Absolutely brilliant! I am ecstatic!
It took a couple reboots, since I accidentally installed the WinXP driver, then had to remove it and reinstall the modded driver. When I right-click the deskop I even get a NVIDIA menu that tells me my OS is Longhorn. : )
I have doubled the points as a sign of my gratitude. Thanks so much!
