Check if the router is broadcasting a SSID.

You say the adapter seems to be activated, can you check that the wifi adapter is powered on, you should have a light on the front of the laptop, see here: http://www.notebookreview.com/assets/6102.jpg

Hi,
i know that kind of laptop have a two led buttons (one for Bluetooth (front left) and one for wifi (from right)). The problem is, if i set the wifi "ON", the color of the wifi button is supposed  to switch to red until the laptop is not connected to the wifi network... and then switch to green. But none of the two lights appear. The wifi device is an Intel Pro/Wireless 2200 BG. I think the wifi device is damaged... is it possible!?!?

thks

Mart.

Of course it is possible that it's damaged, going by what you've said: it seems that he device is not getting powered on. If this laptop is out of warranty, then I suggest you buy a USB wireless adapter, like the Netgear WG111 for example.
