Windows 2003 STD 4GB of ram to 8GB

I have just upgraded my dell 2950 from 4GB of ram to 8GB the bios sees the ram but the os does not i have added /3 switch stilll no luck

    32 GB if it is a 64 bit OS.....

    can i put a 64bit vertion on a machine that was built for 32?

    The 2950 will support 64 bit, but you must re-install the OS to go from 32 to 64 bit.
