Maxtor external HDD access on a Mac

Hi,
my friend has a Mac with OSX and a pc with XP Pro.
He bought a Maxtor external HDD with ethernet connection.
On the pc he can access the HDD.
He doesn't know how to create a networkdrive on the Mac or how to access the network drive.
I don't have any experience at all with Mac

Can someone help me please.

Thanks
JD

  1.  Open the Finder Program.
   2. Choose Connect To Server from the Finder's Go menu.
   3. Enter the drive's address into the Address field. (In the same format as you would in windows - \\[servername]\sharename)
   4. Click Connect again.

Oops, sorry, ignore point 3, I copied it from my notes from the wrong section. Should read:

3. Enter the drive's address into the Address field. (In the format smb://[servername]/[share])
