Remote Oracle access over the Internet

Hello guys,

I've been extremely busy these last two months at work, so I don't have time to come here to help others or research for information. Today I received a call from one of my former instructors who is trying to setup an Oracle database to be accessed over the internet by his students. I have pretty much work with databases connected over a local network, but never over a global one.
All I need is a quick link or steps on how to conduct this setup, including: necessary hardware, software, firewall settings, etc., so my instructor can get his setup up-and-running without calling me...

Thanks a bunch!

Hi,
This will be a strange thing if i say but it works well in my setup over internet.
First your Instructer should download :
              http://www.hamachi.cc/download/list.php
*.Please ask your instructor to have internet connection in the server before installatiing the below things.

*.This is a free ware available for both windows and linux.
*So once download this.He should install it in his machine.
*.Once installation in done.He will get a messenger kind of stuff. There will be a power button kind of stuff in the left bottom.
*.when we click that it will ask you for name ( i.e Server ) naming we can giv .then click next i will assign a public ip in that system. Then you can click the create new network option and create a network name as like you wish.
*.Now open net manager in your servers oracle database and add this ip address ( something with 5........ ) and restart the listener.now you will find the listener status with this hamachi ip address
*.once you create you network, ask all your students to download the same software and install it on their machines
*.Once they install ask them to join into your network, you should provide them the network name and password.so that they can join the network.
*.They should have oracle client and configure the tns names with the server hamachi ip address.
*.Then if they try connecting with the user names they will find connected and using this hamachin we can do file sharing also chat.

If you want i can provide a snapshots how to configure.
