Command to output display text in pl/pgsql

Is there a pl/pgsql equivalent to this Oracle command?

DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT.LINE('This outputs to display when this line runs');

    You use RAISE in PostgreSQL.
    RAISE level 'format' [, expression [, ...]];
    Possible levels are DEBUG, LOG, INFO, NOTICE, WARNING, and EXCEPTION. EXCEPTION raises an error (which normally aborts the current transaction); the other levels only generate messages of different priority levels.
