Hi bsharath,
                    First install the ipod drivers, then as you plug the ipod to USB, it will be listed as a drive in My Computers. Double click the drive and copy the songs you want in here

How do i convert these songs to mp3 before i copy to ipod.As it is huge sizes to copy just the songs

     Following software is a freeware, and can convert CDA to MP3

your best option is to get free iTunes
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

It will rip the audio cds for you in the format you need and then you can transfer the ripped songs to your ipod.
