Are these displays interchangable?  WSXGA vs. WUXGA.  Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop.

I own a Dell Inspiron 8600.
The other day the video went very, very, very faint.  I am using this laptop with an external monitor.
I want to replace the original monitor.
The original monitor is WSXGA.
(The video card is a NVIDEA GeForce FX Go5200)
Can I simply remove the currert display (right at the hinges) and replace it with a WUXGA display?
Will it "just work"?

I am a programmer, not a gamer.  I rarely watch videos.
The WSXGA video is very small - hard on the eyes.  Will WUXGA be even worse?
I have not had good luck with using lower resolutions on WSXGA.

Yes you can replace the wsxga with a wuxga and it will work fine, but the wuxga supports even higher resolutions. If you want one that supports lower resolutions get a wxga.
    1920 x 1200 (WUXGA)
    1680 x 1050 (WSXGA)
    1280 x 800 (WXGA)
