GTA San Andreas audio inconsistent, will not patch to v1.01

While playing GTA San Andreas, I experience the entrance-exit problem with audio as described in forums all over the internet.  However, having purchased the disc in Ireland, I tried to apply the v1.01 (no more hot coffee) patch without success.  I have also tried the USA v1.01 patch, to no avail.  It recognizes the game but will not install.

Any bright ideas?

When did you buy the disk? Since the lawsuits in the US Rockstar have altered the code so Hot Coffee can't be applied.  If you have V1.01 of Andreas then it's no more hot coffee for you I'm afraid.

I understand what the "No hot coffee" patch does.  I don't care to see those scenes or mod the original game to see them.  Sexually suggestive content in a game as blocky as GTA isn't exactly appealing to me.

I just want to patch the game so these audio problems go away.  Sometimes, I cannot hear the character dialog and just get to read the subtitles.  (Applause to Rockstar Games for subtitles.)

If I already have v1.01, I should be able to see the game version from startup, which I am unable to see.  That was one of the patched changes.  The other was to fix the audio problems.

I've looked at the packaging and as far as I can tell, it's v1.00.  It doesn't say otherwise.

Sorry, I may have misread what the problem was.
The 1.01 patch from Rockstar and the "no more hot coffee" patch are two different things.  There are a few mods available to download for Andreas that are unofficial like NMHC.  If you have applied any of them the Rockstar patch won't run.  Once you have patched to 1.01 of the game none of the mods will run.

Presume this is the file you were trying to patch with:
http://grandtheftauto.filefront.com/file/GTA_San_Andreas_Patch;45852

To get 1.01 you may have to reinstall the game.  You should be able to retain your saved games though.

Masqueraid, the reinstall and re-patch idea is probably a safe bet.  I haven't tried that but I'll give it a shot.  I haven't ever applied any mods or after market utilities to the game, so it hadn't occurred to me to reinstall.  I'll try that and get back to you if it doesn't work out for me.

Alright - I tried installing it on another machine and there were no problems whatsoever; graphically or in the audio department.  It says that it is v2.00 in the bottom right hand corner in grey, although I was unaware of a v2.00 patch, so this must be the post-"Hot Coffee" version you mentioned.

This still doesn't solve the problem, though... the audio still screws up on the other machine, and as much as I would love to test the reinstall I did... it seems that my PSU has gone kaput on me, so I'm not sure how log it's going to be until I can test that out.

I suppose I'll leave this question open until I get the chance to test out that theory.
