Clearing static route from routing table "Cisco IOS12.3"

Hi All

I have Cisco couter 7200, running with IOS 12.3
i have added static route, using "ip route", then tried to clear it with "clear ip"
but it still show in the routing table !!!
The following enteries

S    192.3.1.0/24 [1/0] via 172.17.10.7
                           [1/0] via 172.17.8.26

Any comments  ?!!
I read somewhere that there is kind of caching and i need to shutdown / no shutdown the interface to clear the cache ...is it true ???  but what can i do if i cannot shutdown the interface ?!

clear ip route 192.3.1.0 255.255.255.0 172.17.10.7
clear ip route 192.3.1.0 255.255.255.0 172.17.8.26

Clearing is not what you want. If you want to delete or change it then use "no" to delete from the config. As long as it is in the config, you can clear it all you want and it won't matter.
 no ip route 192.3.1.0 255.255.255.0 172.17.10.7
 no ip route 192.3.1.0 255.255.255.0 172.17.8.26

clear ip route will flush the route table and force updates from dynamic routing protocols and neighbors. Not used often. A static is always there no matter what unless you remove it from the config.
