My Music folder missing

On installing iTunes 7.3.1 I get the error message:
"The folder "iTunes" cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the "My Music" folder." when I try to run it. iTunes will not start.
Sure enough, there is no My Music folder in My Documents (and, of course, creating one doesn't fix the problem).
How can I create a "real" My Music folder?
Generic WinXP SP2 system with 1MB RAM.
1 Solution
Create a new user profile and then try it there.

how you are creating it?

Create a New folder and don't rename it yet
change its icon to the one designed for My Music folder
then rename it to My Music
then goto Start>Run>type regedit and hit enter
expand the following path,

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

make sure that the value for My Music in the right pane is set to C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music

(change username to you profile folder name)

then expand,

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

and make sure that the value for My Music is set to %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\My Music

check the results now.
