Is it possible to run eSATA on an 18 month old motherboard that supports SATA
Hi
I am running an AMD computer system which supports SATA and I would like to know if it supports eSATA.
If I purchase a SATA to eSATA bracket, am I able to use an eSATA external hard drive? Will it be compatible?
If I am able to use it, is it plug and play or would I have to turn off the computer before connecting or disconnecting hard drive.
Thank you
Chiarne

eSATA is just a different cable, so Any SATA controller supports eSATA automatically.
I hope this helps !

It will depend on the controller on the mobo but unless it is a pretty high end one I would guess not. If you know what type it is I can find out for you...
