Convert SQL Server 2000 database to MSDE

I need to convert a sql server database (SQL 2000) to msde for testing. I have no idea how to do this. If someone could please give me a step by step in non-dba terms I would appreciate it. Easy points for someone...

this is the best option, take the full backup and restore it on the other server

run this from you source Query analyser

BACKUP DATABASe PutYouDatabaseNameHere
TO DISK = 'C:\1.bak'

Now copy this bak file from C:\ and paste it on the other server

In the other server restore the database

FROM DISK = 'C:\1.bak'

regading connection strings refer
No conversion required. You should be able to simply backup the database on 2000 and restore that backup on MSDE.

the maximum db size supported by MSDE is 2GB, so as long as the original db is below this size, there wont be any problem

But how do I do it? Do I need to do anything to get the MSDE installation to recognize the database (any switches or something like that)?
Aneesh RetnakaranDatabase AdministratorCommented:
If you are installing MSDE on the same machine, you need to install it as a named instance and then you need to attach /restore the exisitng database.
Once you have successfully done thisn, in the application, you need to change the connectionstring

I'm installing on a different machine...I'm not sure how to attach/restore a database or change the connectionstring. Could you provide more details. Thanks.
