What is the best way to migrate to a new server? It would nibe nice to use the same machine name and IP address because it would create the least amount of network interruption.

What kind of Server?  File Server?  Domain Controller?  Web Server?  Database Server?  Small Business Server?

And that's simply not true - keeping the same name and IP creates MORE of a network interruption.  At least in most cases.

If you change all, i suggest to use an other IP, an other name, an other domain.  Why: to avoid to forget to connect a PC to the new domain, name conflict, dns issue and other!!!!!

Even if you try using same IP and name, you'll need to connect all your PC to domain, having new profile and all.
