Hi everyone,
I was wondering, is it possible to collect system information from a REMOTE computer (such as; computer name, domain name, OS etc...) the ".net way" (I mean, without using WMI queries)?

I'm writing in vb.net.

thanks!!!

For machines in your Active Directory, you can use the classes in the System.DirectoryServices namespace to access and search the standard AD objects. Have a look at this:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.directoryservices.aspx

For machines outside your network, in my opinion(please, correct me if I'm wrong), there is really nothing you can do without a remote service in the other end, sending the information to your application.
