I need to reformat a Dell Dimension E520, this client has 40 odd Dell machines of various types, theres a big pile of Dell Recovery disks in the server room, but I cant tell which one is for the Dimension E520.

Is there a special code Dell use for each model?

Am I being dumb and missing something obvious here>?
Cheers

To be honest with you, they should all be able to use any of them. The PID will indicate an OEM, and for giggles, I would look at the COA and simply match up SP1 COA's to SP1 CD's, and SP2 COA's to SP2 COA's.

See if you can look at the setupp.ini on a few machines to verify...

Thanks for the "supa" fast response.. Im having to reformat because the system is blue screening, but passes all hardware diagnostics, thus I wanted to ensure I have all the correct drivers on the next attempt.

Drivers arent going to be an issue on any of those....Dell should haev a seperate Resource CD for the drivers, as the Recovery CD (or at least they used to be), was just the OS....

Reason I gave you that link, was to make sure you COA will match the CD you use, by analyzing the PID in the setupp.ini...

Just get past that, and you should be golden...
