mass mailing slowed down network and still slow

i had a mass mailing go out using our exchange 2003 server. The mailing slowed down our network to a crawl. The mass mailing is done but the network is still crawling what shoudl I do

i guess you need to wait for some more time. If the mails are being downloaded and sent out it will take some time for the server to come to normal level
