need the BIOS for my video card

Hi everyone

I have a Radeon 9000 Pro video card.

I want to be ready in case I have to flash the video BIOS on it, so I've been trying to download the BIOS for it from the internet. I went to a few sites, and all I found was the BIOS for the Radeon 9000 card, which I assume I can't use.

Does anyone know where I can find the BIOS I need?

Thank you
(I'm running Windows 98SE)

Here are the websites I've checked so far:

You are aware that video card bios update is not a standard upgrade.

You should look at video card drivers rather than bios, unless there is something very serious with the default bios.

Thanks for the link.

My next card will be a 9800 Pro, so the info you sent is helpful to me.

The one I have now is a 9000 Pro. Perhaps you didn't look carefully enough at my words.

But as I said, I still much appreciate the link you sent. Thanks.

You're right, I read 9800 instead of 9000.

And because the 9800 can be improved with a bios update, I erroneously concluded you needed that info.

At least this is one of the cases when a bios upgrade is interesting.

Cheers,

Great link! Thanks!

But alas, there were no Sapphire 9000 Pro bioses listed there. What should I do?

Specific for a Sapphire, can't find one.

I have been looking around and I couldn't find anything on the advantage of upgrading the Bios on a Radeon 9000 Pro.

On the contrary, I've read of a few disasters.

Again, I can only suggest some caution.

Good luck, anyway.

Thanks for trying to help. I'm going to give you the points for your effort and for your helpful advice.

My goal is not to upgrade the bios, but to be able to flash it in case it gets corrupted. I know that if I have a problem with the card, I should first:

reinstall the mobo chipset drivers, completely uninstall the video card drivers and then reinstall them, lower the refresh rate, lower the screen resolution, reduce the AGP speed multiplier from 8x to 4x (or maybe even to as low as 1x, since I anyway don't play games), and perhaps also to stop fast writes.

--- before I think about flashing the bios. Still, i wanted to have the option in case I need it.
