Phone as microphone on computer.

I have a motorola sm56 speakerphone modem. And i have installed it and connected my phone to it. Is there a way i can use my phone as a microphone to record audio?

It may be possible, as there are applications that attach to telephones through such modems and allow you to use the phone to interact with a voicemail type system.

However, something to keep in mind is that in most cases, telephones are designed to be telephones, and the frequency range you will get is rather limited. Your likely to sound like you are talking on a phone with highs and lows rounding off.

Actually, I hate to say it; but, the short and long answer is no.
The voicemodem's will allow you to connect a headset and microphone to the modem (ususally 2 3.5mm jacks) AND, in most cases, if you also add an audio cable between the modem card and the sound card inside the computer, you can then use the microphone to record audio at the 8 kilohertz sampling rate Dhoffman mentions; but, it's an awful lot of work for a lower capability than just getting a microphone.
If you get a program such as http://www.modemspy.com/ , you can record telephone conversations; but, you still have to call somebody (usually by using the modem to dial, then picking up the telephone) in order to capture the conversation.
