increased ADSL Upload Speed

I wanted to install a 2mb SDSL line to one of our remote offices, but unfortunately their local exchange doesn't yet support SDSL or Leased Line, just ADSL upto 8mb.

This remote office is currently connected to head office via a very slow (128kb) private network, but I want to install a new DC that will replicate with the DC at head office as well as transfering files, which would be possible if I can get at least a 1mb upload speed as I can always schedule the replication to happen at night.

Is there any way I can install say two ADSL lines and combine their upload speeds so that I can achieve over 1mb.

So you can get ADSL with download speeds up to 8mb... and you can't upload over 1mb? Double check with them to find out what their rates are and why your upstream speed is so crippled. It could simply be a matter of them changing your provisioning. I have a location that just received a new circuit on DSL getting 6mb down and 1.5 mb up.

But to answer your question... what you are looking to do is called "bonding". I would suggest that you contact the provider to find out if they support it. Some carriers are not currently able to provide pair bonding. There may be a way to do it with a second circuit and then a router with two WAN interfaces on your end, but then you would have to build two VPN connections back to the other side. It could be messier than you need it to be.

Thanks dhoffman 98

I will contact the ISP and ask them.
