I have two sites with exchange server at each site.  Site 1 is the main mx/exchange server site and my other site is connected with a vpn tunnel to get mail.  I want to setup a secondary mx record and have site 2 be able to accept mail.  what do i need to do in esm to be able to do this?  i know about my external dns and firewall for site 2.  just need to know how to setup so it could be the main server as well.  is there bridgehead settings?

You need to have two MX records created with different priority (since you already have one,you would need one more with lower priority)
    MX 10
    MX 20
IF 10 fails the messages coming from internet would directly go to 20 which is also a public IP. YOU MUST translate or NAT this address internally and point it to the second exchange server.

Ensure that the second site has the same level of spam and antivirus protection as the primary site. The same settings for security etc. The second site will receive email - nothing you can do to stop that, and it will deal with more than its far share of spam messages.

The Exchange servers will talk to each other automatically, nothing needs to be done there. If you want to control the routing of email out to the internet then you need to look at routing groups, routing group connectors and an SMTP Connector in each routing group.
