Look in the preferences of Firefox, in the "advanced" tab you can choose the preferred language for web pages that support multiple languages, probably here you have the french language set with a greather priority than english or (or other language you want).

(sorry for the two-part answer, I read too late you have the same problem with Safari) I tjhink you should take a look to your international settings in the System preferences. Maybe you have some setting incorrect here wich Safari is using to determine the language of web pages. My previous hint about Firefox shoul work, probably Firefox also decided to take that setting from the international settings.

I've ran into this bug and it's a total headache. Make sure you are up to date on your OSX. Use a detailed font utility such as font doctor X [ http://www.morrisonsoftdesign.com/index-7.html ] to clean up your fonts and verify that you are in great shape. Then, and I presume you have MS office installed, look in your applications folder for "Microsoft AutoUpdate" and run that and do the updates. I think 11.3.4 fixed the problem we were having after doing all the previous steps. Today, it's at 11.3.7.

-- Image -- 35 users at your door one day with THIS funky font problem. It was not pretty and reoccured intermittently for many months. Though I was going to... well.... flake out. ... ;-)

You might also need to clean your font caches. This did offer some relief but not always and not forever. See:
