controlling applets with servlets

i have an applet that already allows me to view the video(recorded through an IP camera) on the screen when i execute it.  i need to write a servlet that will allow me start, stop and save the recording, and then  view the video through the servlet.

is there a way where you can actually write a servlet that can control the applet so that the video can be recorded, saved and then viewed on the server? how do you actually incorporate the applet codes to the servlet codes?

your applet would need to be passing the video down the wire back to your server (as the applet runs on the client)

oh..hmm. are there any codes that shows how you can get the vid as the applet runs?
and how do you save the recorded vid as a file so that the client can later play back the vids on the server and on the mobile phone?

sorry, i'm not very good with this so i require some help. thanks for the reply, btw.

not a small job, your applet will need to open a socket connection to the server and stream the video down that stream.
Your server will then need to read the video stream and store to file (or whereever).
Not sure if you'll need to also encode the video stream or not.

TO playback, the applet would need to make a connection to server and read video stream.

    ohhh okay. thanks.

any chance that you can show me a sample code on how you read the stream on the server side?
