Distribution list Outlook 2003

I am trying to create a distribution list containing 10 contacts.  I name the list, select/add the members and their email addresses, and then save the list.  I then try to send a new message to this list but there are no addresses tied to the list.  Only the name (not underlined) of the list is shown in the "To:" display.  I am using Outlook 2003.

What happens if you manually add the dist. list by pressing the "to:" button?

In address book "Show names from the:"  Contacts is not an option for me but it is for other users.  So manually pressing To: doesn't bring up the list.

    Try this:

       1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
       2. On the Preferences tab, click E-mail Options, and then click Advanced E-mail Options.
       3. Make sure  the Suggest names while completing To, Cc, and Bcc fields check box is selected.
