Has anyone has success upgrading from advanced server 2000 to server 2003 R2? I am reading that it is not a best practice or supported upgrade path. I am trying to avoid a new license.

    Accepted Solution

You can't avoid a new license.  A 2003 R2 Standard license simply cannot be used to upgrade a 2000 Advanced Server.

You can migrate to another machine or do a fresh install, provided you don't need any of the Enterprise features... but you can't upgrade.
