Does the Master database play a role in MS SQL Server merge replication?

I have a Microsoft SQL server 2005 database which is merge replicated between 2 servers with a push subscription.  We lost the operating system disk (C:) on the subscriber which held the master database. Is the loss of the master database going to break replication?

Unfortunately this will most likely cause a problem because Replication does use one table (MSreplication_options) in master.

See http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms179855.aspx for a full list of the tables.

Chances are you will have to setup new replication after restoring the master database.

Luckily Replication did come back up in working order. The machine affected was a subscriber that had a Push subscription being pushed to it.  The options were all default before and after the OS rebuild.
