DNS Forwarders issue

I would like to add forwarders into my dns server pointing towards my ISP's servers to allow the main DNS server on the network to resolve internet domains instead of relying on the default gateway. I know that because DNS servers were not detected during installation that the server set itself up as the root authority. This has led to the server greying out the forwarders and root hints options, I also know that removing the root forward lookup zone (.) will allow me to add forwarders. And this is where my question comes in!!

If I delete the root forward lookup zone will this have any ramifications within the network?

Cheers,

Barry

no, deleting the root "." zone won't cause any issues, you can delete it then restart DNS and all should be well.
