Cant make Exchange boxes in AD

Last week I had a DC crash on me.  Everything is working fine except for one problem.  I used to be able to go into Active Directory and be able to set up the exchange boxes for the associated account.  I can not seem to do this anymore.  Any ideas as to why?

When you install ESM it will add Exchange Tasks and Exchange TAB to the AD Users and Computers MMC.

Can you load AD users and computers on the exchange server and perform any Exchange Tasks?  If not, you probably have bigger problems that just not having ESM.

Also make sure you backup DC you are now running on is a Global Catalog (GC) - it is need for logging on and Exchange:

Did you rebuild the box?  If so, did you re-install the ESM tools?  The ESM tools from the Exchange setup CD add the extra exchange options/TABS to AD users and computers MMC.

I didnt rebuild the box.  The backup dc is now the main DC (looking on getting a new DC)...if I do not have the Exchange CD, anyway I can get that?

Problems using Powershell and Active Directory?

Managing Active Directory does not always have to be complicated.  If you are spending more time trying instead of doing, then it's time to look at something else. For nearly 20 years, AD admins around the world have used one tool for day-to-day AD management: Hyena. Discover why

You pretty much need the CD unless you have the CD files somewhere.  You might be able to download a Trial version of Exchange, then just install the ESM tools.

You should be able to still perform these functions from one of the Exchange servers directly or maybe someone else in your company has ESM installed on their PC.  Should get you by while you look for the CD.

OK- I have ESM on my main exchange box- how do I get it to be integrated within AD?

OK- was able to access AD from the Exchange box itself and all is now well

Still would like to get the other server to be able to do it as well (it is a global catalog))

Glad you are going for now.  All you really need is an Exchange CD.  You should have one somewhere since it's installed in your company.  Once you find it, you can just select the option to install the ESM tools.

I have the CD- but the only option is to install Exchange 2003.  So I thought maybe after clicking that Id get the option, but then I get a "Setup has detected this version may not work properly with the OS currently installed"

Server 2003 SP2 is the OS
