Remote Desktop - Can not send mail using 'send to mail recipient' shortcut

Hello All,

I have a interesting issue. When a person right clicks a file and clicks 'send to mail recipient' nothing happens. The same also happens when sending a link or page for Internet Explorer while logged onto Remote Desktop from a Windows 2003 box. Is there any reason why this would not happen? The default program for viewing/sending email is Outlook in the Internet Options. Thank you.

Is this only happening on the server? Also is your email client Exchange?

They are able to send emails using the shortcut when RDPed into Windows XP.
When a user remote desktops into the Windows 2003 server, they are unable to use the shortcut to send email. They are able to send emails using the shortcut when RDPed into Windows XP. They client that is set for email is Outlook 2003 on the server. They are able to open outlook and send/receive email that way while on the server.

Ok, is their a reason why they can not launch outlook via the 'send to mail recipient' shotcut? The problem seems kind of strange as to why they can not.

Can you paint a better picture of what the setup looks like. What I am gathering is users log into one computer and send and receive their email? Or am I way off track?

A user looks onto Windows 2003 server using Remote Desktop for Administration. When a user right clicks a file on the desktop and clicks Send to > Send To > Mail Recipient. Outlook does create an email message with the file attached to the email message. This same issue occurs when a user is trying to send a link or page using Internet explorer. When a user clicks File > Sent > Page by Email / Link by Email, nothing happens. Outlook is set as the default program in Internet Options.

Is there a mail profile setup on the account that the user is remotley connecting to, if so is that working properly?

It looks like this is a normal function of RDP. I've experienced this before
