i have a textfield.getString line which is in java. if i want to use it in C#, what are the equivalent?

Usually, the suffix is .text for all of the .net languages. What platform are you moving to? Is the new application a windows form?

TextBox.Text.ToString();

textbox.text should be enough. ToString is redundant because text is already a string.
