Active Sync Error 608

I am using an O2 windows mobile device with windows 2003 second edition. I hve been away and when I returned, the actoive sync (v4.5) did not seem to be able to detect the device. On the device I kept getting an error stating "cannot start communications with the dektop computer. Remote networking could not start due to  a ciritical error (Error 608)."

We have restarted the PC and soft set the mobile device. There is no firewall software. Norton corporate 10 is installed. The error persists. Can anyone assist.

Thanks

Then in order to get ActiveSync working again you need to use a registry editor (hopefully you had one on your device already or youll need to track down an SD card reader for your PC). Delete these keys: HKLM/Comm/Wlan11b and HKLM/Comm/Wlan11

If it doesnt work then UNinstall AS reboot and then reinstall AS

Hi Mikal613,

I have an SD card reader on my desktop, but I'm not sure how to delete these registry keys. Are you reffring to the registry on the mobile windows device or on my desktop computer? There is no such program as regedit on the mobile device. How do I go further.

Thanks

Once I removed the registry keys, then the active sync worked again.
