While copying "my music" from my desktop to my laptop I keep getting this error. "Cannot copy with user mapping section open" I have to keep pressing try again over and over again. I have even tried copying to a external hard drive and then to the laptop. Get same results.

What is the cause of this and is there any way around it?

relates to the following error code....

"The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user-mapped section open."

Usually a simple reboot clears any open handles..

A few thoughts though...

Cant be the entire music folder this is affecting. I would try copying in smaller chunks, and when you find one that this happens to, try the folllowing program...

Who Lock Me? ~ IT Professionals

Install it and simply right click the file>WhoLockMe? and see if it displays a good result...

Additionally, in process explorer, use the Find function at the top, and search for *.mp3 (assuming these are MP3 files...). It will show you what processes have locked them as well....
