Group Policy: Add Network Place

Group Policy:  Does anyone know whether the Group Policy to disable users' ability to map network drives also affects their ability to add a network place using the 'Add Network Place' wizard. We restrict users from mapping drives, but are not knowingly restricting the add network place wizard, but it doesnt work.

XPSP1 and 2, AD2000

Thanks

Yes if you disable the ability to map network drives it also disables the ability to ad network places. They may not seem like the same thing but they are.

But you can (or could if our users had the run command available) still type a path to a server share  and connect to it via the run command...!

Yes you can connect to it but to make it a perm map or network place is not allowed by policy.
