Very basic question on WinCVS setup...what is a repository?

I have been trying to set up win CVS.
What I am going to ask is probably a very very simple question to someone who understands the set up however I have been struggling to get clear info on the net.

Firstly, can someone please explain to me exactly what a repository is in terms of cvs?
Is the repository the files on the web server? or Is the repository the local copy of the website on your hard drive?
Any extra help would be greatly appreciated on this.

The repository is the location on the server where the files are kept.
The repository is basically the files/data store of your source code and anything else checked in/out in regards to your project. When you check files in and out, you are checking them in and out of the repository.

Ok, folks, you have answered my first very basic question on winCVS. Brace yourself for more of this kind of simple question as I plough my way through the newbie set up procedures.

The dilema now is who to give the points to?

I trust you will be happy with 250pts each.

Please accept my apologies if I have got the balance wrong.

Thanks again
Many thanks.  There is little to go wrong with the answer to that particular Q. :)
