Veritas Backup exec event error 57860

I get the following error in the application event viewer in Win server 2003. It is event id 57860 from Backup Exec:
An error occured while attempting to log into the following server "DC-Dur\BACKUPEXEC"
SQL error number: "4814"
SQL error message:"Login failed for user 'veritas_sa'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
".
Here is what I did so far:
MS SQL server is NOT installed. Only Backup exec is installed.
The user veritas_sa has full administrator rights and has a user folder in Documents and Settings.
The SQL server agent is not started in the services.
All the other services that have anything to do with SQL (such as MSSQL$BKUPEXEC) has veritas_sa as the log on account.
The sa password is null.
Veritas_sa has been granted access to the BKUPEXEC database.
The Veritas version is 10.0 and service pack 5 is installed.
Its on Windows 2003 service pack 1
The backups are working like they should, and it is only backing up the local machine.
I haven't found any fixes for this that doesn't involve SQL server. Has this happened to anyone?
Thanks!!

It sounds like you are trying to backup the MSDE database holding BackupExec information.  You either need the SQL agent to do this, or you need to simply follow that KB article above.

I forgot to add that I am not backing up anything to do with Backup exec.

If you are backing up the local machine where BE is installed, then it will try to backup that MSDE database...check the KB article to be sure, because:

An error occured while attempting to log into the following server "DC-Dur\BACKUPEXEC"

looks like it IS trying to backup the BE database.
