Is there a way to insert and mx record locallly, just the way you add an A record on the host file c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\
We dont have access to our DNS server and just wanted to add a local MX record to test something.

Thank you

The answer is pretty much simply NO.  The host file is for A records only, not MX records.  there is no such mechanism for MX records.

for a workaround you could just install a DNS server on some machine, create the A and MX records you want on it,  and then  point your test box to that DNS sever.
