How to Perform a Repair Install of Windows Server 2003

Somehow, the boot sector of my server is corrupt, so I need to do a repair install of w2k3.  When I boot the server to the CD, which options do I select to do a simple Repair Install?  I do not want to reformat anything, just repair the OS.

Please let me know!

See the "How to Repair Your Installation of Windows" heading here:

Also be sure to manually install service packs and hotfixes afterwards.

The first thing I would do is boot from the CD and enter the Recovery Console.  From there run these commands -

fixboot c:
This will repair the Boot Sector.

fixmbr c:
This will repair the Master Boot Record.

chkdsk /p /r c:
This will run Check Disk on the drive and try to repair issues.

These commands tend to repair most boot sector related problems I've found.  To do a repair installation as you asked though you need to select the option to Install Windows.  The installer will then search for existing installations and ask if you want to repair an existing installation by running setup.
