SBS 2003 licensing question

I have recently taken over the maintenance of a SBS 2003 server and am slowly working out what the previous contractors had done.

We are about to add another workstation and user to the network (currently have 5 pc and 5 users)  I need to find out if I require additional cals and how do i find out what type i currently have ie device or user cals.  The reason i ask is that they vary in price.

The server license currently states that I have 5 lic installed with a max usage of 6.

Thanks in advance,

If you have computers being used by more than on person then device CALs are preferable, in other cases use user CALs. You can have a mixture of both but it becomes confusing!
Most retailers sell the CALs in blocks of 5. see http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/sbs/evaluation/faq/licensing.mspx for FAQs on SBS licencing.
The Licenses console displays the total number of CALs that have been activated on the server and maximum number of clients that were connected since the last server restart. In your case you have 5 CALs installed but have 6 authenticated at one time.
