Hi astubblefield,

When you say "external" is the php file external to your site or is the mysql server external?

Both the xml.php file and the mysql server are external to the site, they are on say xyz.com and the site that I am trying to import the xml and create a  "SPRY XML DATA SET" is on a different site say 123.com.

Thanks

Okay, I'll try to mimic that tonight to see if I can replicate it.  The odd thing is that I would expect the preview to fail but the live pages to work with dynamically generated PHP files.  If the preview works, the live should also work.

What's the run-time value defined as?

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

I'm not filtering the querry at yet, if you want to use  the test XML fille that I have it is on http://realestate.stunis.com/ds/test.php, just a simple test file.
I am like you, if ti was to fail it should in the preview,

Ok, I have tired the same XML file on the site and on another site.

The one that the XML file is on the site http://crossdavidson.com/ds/clients.xml  with the SPRY table on http://crossdavidson.com/test2.php there is no error

The one that the XML file is off  the site http://realestate.stunis.com/ds/clients.xml with the SPRY table on http://crossdavidson.com/test.php I get the error "Exception caught while loading http://realestate.stunis.com/ds/clients.xml: [object Error]"

And as with the XML.php files  in the "SPRY XML DATA SET" I am able to preview the XML files from both sites.

Sorry I haven't responded yet...I've had some RL issues to deal with.

I get a different error message on the second page.  I see:

Exception caught while loading http://realestate.stunis.com/ds/clients.xml: Permission denied to call method XMLHttpRequest.open

So it sounds like the server is not permitting the method.

Jason,

I had only tested it in IE, which didn't show the XMLHttpRequest.open.

I did find a discussion on this topic under the SPRY Framework (Pre-Release)  which states it is a security issue and that we need an "application proxy" to get around this.

http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=72&catid=602&threadid=1239395&highlight_key=y&keyword1=XMLHttpRequest%2Eopen

Now to figure out the application proxy for this,

Thanks

One more reason to love FireFox and the Web Developer extension :)
