Importing a .eml contacts folder into Outlook from Exchange 2000

I am trying to figure out how to import a .eml file from exchange 2000 that has contacts in it to Outlook. It was originally located in a public folder that everyone shared on the network. The drive containing the data has crashed and I am working from a backup copy. When I import it into outlook express or Outlook, it wants to treat it as an email instead of a contact with all the fields. Additionally I do not see the contact fields, I only get some text that seems to be a description of the contact NOT the contact data like phone numbers, email address and mailing address.
This is a critical file for the organization.

Hi, Premiumpcs.

I'm confused about the issue.  A .eml file is typically an Outlook Express email.  That extension isn't exclusive to Microsoft though, so there's no guarantee that the file is an Outlook Express message.  My confusion begins when you mention that this was in a public folder, contained contacts, and the drive crashed.  Public Folders are kept in an Exchange information store.  If the drive containing the information store crashed, then I don't know how you'd be able to separate one public folder from the rest.  Each pubic folder isn't stored in its own file.  You'd have to rebuild the entire Exchange Server information store from backup to recover the Public Folder.  And that's forgetting about the fact that .eml files are Outlook Express messages and have nothing to do with Exchange.  The bottom line is that I don't know what the file actually is.

We basically found out that the data was incomplete and this was unusable.
