dcdiag and net diag

Dear sir ,
            in exchange server we use DCDIAG AND NETDIAG TOOLS why and  for what purpose they are used ?

Hi Sanjeev,

Generally, these tools are used for diagnosing problems with domain controllers (including FSMO roles and DNS) and general network connectivity respectively.

I am sure the above links show the same thing, but still, they are straight forward.

Why are you asking?  Do you have a problem, or have you run these tools and produced errors?

i am asking because as i was learning exchange server there i saw that they recomended to run NETDIAG AND DCDIAG?

Ahh, they are simply diagnostic tools - download and run them now, they don't change anything (unless you want them to) and will just report on your current environment.

DCDIAG AND NETDIAG are powerful tools used by system administrators to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve Active Directory and DNS problems.
They are very useful. I recommend that all Windows server and Active Directory Administrators should become familiar with using both tools.
