runtime error 1004

Whenever I try open excel 2007 i get the following error message: Runtime error 1004 Unable to get the RTD property of the worksheet function class.  I have tried un-installing and re-installing Office 2007, and I have run SFC /SCNNOW as well as Norton to check for virus or spyware. No problems show up. I don't want to do a system recovery, because I have proprietary software that would be difficult to re-install. My operating system is windows xp pro

@RTD:Microsoft Excel 2002 provides a new worksheet function called RealTimeData (RTD). This function allows you to call a Component Object Model (COM) Automation server so that you can retrieve data in real time.

When you start Excel, all the files that are located in the XLStart folder are automatically opened. This behavior occurs regardless of the type of file. Additionally, if you specified an alternative startup folder for Excel, every file in that folder is also automatically opened.

Maybe there is in your XLStart folder an Excel file with an VB-script or macro that wants to setup this RealTimeData server (to give you perhaps all 10 seconds stock prices), but cannot  (connect to your internet provider, maybe).

gives you more information especially the manual steps to prevent files from automatically opening in Excel.

Thanks for your suggestion.  I checked the XLStart folder and there were not any files other than a pdf maker file (which I removed).  I am still receiving the same error message as before.

Thanks for your help.  I had a Bloomberg add-in that was causing the problem.  Great job!
Glad it worked out.  Thanks for the great grade!
i seem to have the same problem as the person who posted the question. The addin that is causing the "runtime error 1004: Unable to get the RTD property of the WorksheetFunction Class", i'm pretty shore is bloomberg's excel tools addin. However, I really need to use excel with this addin so I don't want to solve the problem of unclicking the addin. Do you know why my excel does not like this addin. I've spoken to bloomberg and they think it's a windows problem not a bloomberg one as they say the addin is completely compatable with excel 2007?
Any help would be great thanks
Hello, i had the same problem and indeed the bloomber add-in is causing the problem, but the fact is that i want the bloomberg add-in to be running, how can i correct the problem in order to get the add-in running again?
